Farther Along We'll Understand Why

I apologize for my lengthy absence. Honestly, I wasn't sure how to approach- in a blog about my photography- this particular subject.
But every day it gets easier to talk about this, and it's time to just bite the bullet.
My father passed away August 21st. He was diagnosed with esophageal cancer last September, and after a wonderful, beautiful year of the best memories ever with my Daddy, he passed away after just a couple short weeks of suffering.
It's hard to explain how I feel. Mostly I'm okay. But like I keep saying, I had no idea you could have peace with a situation and still hurt so much.
Bob Bradford was, for 24 years, my pastor, my hero, and my Daddy.
Growing up in the Bible Belt, where so many preachers' kids feel the hypocrisy of a human father in the somehow higher office of spiritual leader, my sister and I had the honor of growing up with the most Godly, amazing man I have ever known. And still, one of his favorite lines was, "Don't look at me- my feet are made of clay."
He never judged a single person. He just loved everyone, no matter what.

I could go on forever- I could write a book about how special my Daddy was and how much I will miss him. But he wouldn't want me to dwell on that. He was proud of me. He made me feel proud of myself. I'll treasure that forever.

The title is from the song he has always said he wanted sung at his funeral, and it was- beautifully.
